On September 3, 2008 NASCAR visited West High School to talk about DWD (driving while distracted). NASCAR driver Jeff Burton came here to West with a driving simulator and explained why it is not a great idea for people to drive and do other things such as texting or talking on the cell phone. Also following too close behind someone could be hazardous as well. This event was open to the public and there were chances for students and others to win great prizes such as an iPod and Ohio State football tickets and fans could get autographs from Jeff Burton. In the NASCAR simulator our principal Mr. Martin faced off against Jeff Burton and as expected Burton dominated the event. Broadcasters such as channel 10 WNCI were at West to cover the event as well. By: Stearl Spurlock |

Stem Club Members
| Congratulations to the West High STEM club for their outstanding performance at the robotics competition on Thursday May 7th at the Hyatt Regency. There were a total of 12 teams that competed and West was able to consistently complete the course. The LEGO robots had to go downhill, put a hacky sack through a hole, go back up the hill and knock a flag down at the top of the hill - within 20 seconds! | ![]() |
