West High JROTC

JROTC motivates young people to become better citizens.
You might have heard that JRTOC is all about discipline. That's not entirely true in JROTC you have the opportunity to be a member of a team, participate in community service activities, and serve in a leadership position. You can also earn your community service hours by volunteering for school activites.

Different Teams

The Physical Training team consists of ten cadets who participate in competitions with other JROTC programs. Events include a one mile run, fifty yard dash, shuttle run, long jump, push ups and sit-ups.

The Drill team marches in competitions. It is very different from the Weskets drill team. The team practices marching and competes against other JROTC prgrams in Ohio.

The Color guard carries two flags and two rifles. The two flags are the American and JROTC flag. The cades with the flags stand in the middle and the cadets with the rifles stand on each side protecting the flags. The color guard posts the flags at every home sporting event(baseball,football,etc.).

The Honor guard raises the flag at the beginning of each school day and also takes the flag down 10 minutes before school is over. The Honor guard will raise the flag on the football field and lower it ten minutes before the game is over.
